Ignas K. Tonle is Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Dschang (Cameroon) where he leads a research group working on the development of sensors and biosensors based on inorganic materials and lignocellulosic materials. In collaboration with the Electrochemistry and Analytical Chemistry research group (A. Walcarius) at the Lorraine University (Nancy, France), his PhD thesis achieved in 2004 at the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (Supervisor: Emmanuel Ngameni) of the University of Yaounde 1 (Cameroon) investigated the grafting of organosilanes onto the surface of smectite-type clay minerals, followed by the application of the obtained organoclays as electrode materials for sensing devices. In 2008, he moved to Detellier’s Group (University of Ottawa, Canada) for a one year post-doctoral position. In 2013, Ignas K. Tonle was granted the Georg-Forster Fellowship for experienced researchers by the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation (Germany). He works in cooperation with the "Elektroanalytik & Sensorik" group (Prof Dr Wolfgang Schuhmann, Ruhr-Universität-Bochum, Germany), the Institut of Inorganic Chemistry and Structural Chemistry (Prof Dr Christoph Janiak, Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, Germany) and the Laboratory for Organ Printing (Prof Dr Anayancy Osorio-Madrazo, University of Bayreuth, Germany).
